WordPress or XSitePro?
I had initially decided to use XSitePro for my new site but after beginning to read “How to Build An Affiliate Website with Wordpress” I’m reconsidering that decision. After all, there are a lot of advantages to using WordPress for any site - - from RSS to built in commenting abilities, to the myriad of plug-ins that could make life and expansion much easier. Templating WordPress, though, is harder for me than making a template for XSitePro, and it’s harder for me to wrap my head around the changes that’ll need to be made to a default Wordpress theme to make it work for what I’ve got planned.
Decisions, decisions….
So, I’m going to take tonight to study the WP Affiliate book, along with the free “Wordpress SEO for Beginners” from Blog Oh Blog and Teli Adlam’s free “Beginner’s Guide to Using and Building Traffic with Feedburner” report.
If I feel confident and enthusiastic enough to proceed with WordPress tomorrow, I’ll set up a blog and see where it leads. Otherwise, I’ll go back to my XSitePro plan and save WordPress for a future project.

Wendy, you might also want to get the newish Long Tail Cash set from Dave Tropeano but only if you don’t get enough from Teli’s ebooks. Both are excellent and I think you will find that wordpress is the way to go.
As for a template try out the cutline or even copyblogger and see if either one does the job for you.

Thanks Sandra,
The more I read and see some of the really awesome things being done with Wordpress, the more I’m convinced I need to work through it myself.
I’m not really interested in spending time working with PPC right now, so your other recommendation isn’t something I’m too interested in pursuing.

Hi Wendy, good luck with your venture, which ever way you decide to go.
I would just like to remind you that the Version 2 of XSitePro is almost ready to launch. Although I cannot divulge the updates, it will take some beating.
Original V1 sites are exportable to the new format, so this may be worth considering as an option.

Hi Wendy,
I faced the same decision a few days ago and I opted for the new version of XSitePro which now includes RSS snap-ins and a host of other cool features. XSitePro v2.x is the bomb!
Cheers,
Tony

Definitley go for wordpress it is super easy to set up, especially if you have cpanel/fantastico at you host. One click installation and one click updating is great.
Along with the many plugins for wordpress there are loads of free themes which are really easy modify.
Oh, and don’t forget Google loves wordpress sites so they get indexed quickly and stay in the index.
Give it a go and you’ll see how easy it is.

Hi Wendy, I’m guessing you may have made your decision by now, but if not. There’s now a new XSitePro 2 Brochure out there that is not only stunning but gives a good overview about what it can do. If nothing else it’s a great lesson on how sales brochures should be done. I’ve got it posted on my blog.

XSitePro V2 has been released since this post was made, and it is seriously better than V1. Many good reasons to build with XSP.
Many more to build with WordPress too. Free, Open Source and MANY plugins.
Both are pretty easy to use though, so either way you can get a great site in short time.
Once you have the basics of either, combine them and use them both for even better results and the best of both worlds.

Hi Wendy, I HIGHLY recommend using Wordpress for your site. Google loves wordpress and depending on the theme you use and how you setup the site, the SEO benefits are stellar. I just heard about a new plugin for wordpress that allows you to sell affiliate products called PopShops. Check it out. I just heard about it so I’ve only just played with it on one of my blogs. But I’m looking to launch it one of them probably next week once I get more comfortable with it.
Good luck on your projects!

There is no such thing as a moral or an immoral book. Books are well written or badly written.
